Disease & Oxidative Stress: How to manage them both
Updated: Feb 18, 2021
Let’s go back to 9th grade biology for just a second: Remember we all colored and labelled a cell with a cell membrane, nucleus and mitochondria.
In easy terms, the nucleus is the command center of the cell. It tells the cell to do everything basically. The mitochondria are the engine of the cell creating energy or ATP (remember that, Krebs’s cycle)

When we are born, we have a high number of Antioxidants and low amounts of Free Radicals, which I like to call “cell destroyers”, we inherit from our mothers.
When we are born, we begin to breath O2, and the mitochondria uses that O2 to make energy. The byproduct of this process are free radicals. As we age our antioxidants go down and free radicals go up.
Because the mitochondria are busy creating energy; the byproduct of free radicals significantly increases, essentially unchecked. Free radicals attached themselves all over the cell, in the membrane, the nucleus even the mitochondria. This injures the cell. The body responds to injury by sending PRO-Inflammatory molecules. This creates scars. Scars then replace cells, Cells replace organs. To many scarred cells creates disease.
THIS is the start of the disease process. 90% of disease starts with this process! The excess production of free radicals over the cell’s ability to neutralize them with antioxidants is called OXIDATIVE STRESS.
There is a protein, NRF2 that is anchored within the cell. Its job is to send messages to the nucleus about the status of free radicals in the cell. Because it is anchored it cannot send the messages immediately. Because of this, free radicals have more time to accumulate. When the protein’s message finally arrives, the nucleus is triggered to make life saving enzymes and turn on the cell to produce antioxidants (which fight off all the free radicals). Typically, your cell can make millions of these antioxidants per SECOND. There are no foods of any kind that can produce this amount of life saving antioxidants at the volume necessary for your cells. But since the message from the anchored NRF2 protein is late, the production is also behind.
So, what do we do? How can we support our bodies to function properly and SLOW this entire process? Protandim. What is Protandim and how can it solve MANY issues related to disease states!

Protandim is a specifically blended ratio of 5 herbs (Milk Thistle, Bacopa, Ashwagandha, Green Tea, Turmeric) at a pharmacologically low dose that synergistically is 18x times more effective than the sum of each herb individually.
Protandim has over 25 peer reviewed studies that conclude, Protantim can reduce Oxidative Stress by 40% in the first 30 days of use. That's a bold claim, backed up by science.
How does it work? Remember NRF2, Protandim actives the release of this protein to immediately send the message to the nucleus that we have too many free radicals and to start making antioxidants (remember, millions per second). NRF1 activates the Mitochondria (which remember gets damaged by the free radicals it produces as a byproduct of making energy) to regulate the repair of itself. This helps to also increase the number of Mitochondria, make more energy and your make your cells more efficient. So, the synergy between the NRF1 and NRF2 with Protandim is the perfect balance to create a healthier, more efficient cell. Its a functioning, dysfunctional symbiotic relationship. Introducing NRF1 and NRF2 into the cell with Protandim, creates a continuous cirlce of resolve to truly function perfectly.
When your cells are healthy, you slow the disease process, you slow the aging process and allow your body to do exactly what its designed to do. Heal itself!
The wonderful part is that anything that breathes O2 can benefit. Yes there is even Petandim! Studies show no contraindications of any type, including medications you may already be taking. Again, remember the pharmacologically low dose, specific blend of herbs is what makes this possible.
